Hi Robin,

I'm wondering if you can help me gain some clarity regarding a situation I am needing to address?

I have been seeing a low income counselor for about four months or so, and he is very agitating and confrontive. Last Monday, he told me that he had been trying to get me angry the last few weeks!

I suppose that's to get a rise out of me, or something....Anyway, the bottom line is that the crux is whether to end this and get referred to someone else there, or to continue with him.

Has this association with him served its purpose, and now its time to move on to something better for me? I keep hearing bringing up pain is good, only it really doesn't feel that good; I have done well with other low income counselors in the past that did not share this approach.

His thrust is. "If you really want to be well, I can help you". Yet, he is 100 pounds overweight, and no longer married, and I have felt an anger charge from him when I touched something that he had just touched the moment before.

He managed to rouse my anger recently, and now I am having difficulty getting back to equilibrium. I'm not sure that this is either good or appropriate, yet I'm being told that it is.

You did not agree to that type of therapy. That may be a type of therapy, but is that the best technique to assist you on your healing path? Would you go to a hair stylist who kept fixing your hair in a way you didn't like?

Personally, I would end the relationship with him immediately and without explanation. If he wants to see your anger, let him hear that. Aren't you outraged that you are sitting with a counselor that you question his intentions? Engaging in therapy is a very, very intimate experience. If any part of you doesn't feel safe, get out. Find a counselor that you feel safe getting to "the unsafe parts" of you.

I advise you to go with your intuition.

I'll need to see him one more time to get a referral to someone else in the organization.

My intuition gets cloudy and intimidated, at times. Foggy, you might say. It's hard for me to take on someone who presents themselves as an authority, yet doesn't honor someone else with.....hmmm, some pattern busting going on.

I appreciate your input and clarity regarding this.

P.S. He's been complaining that I won't open up to him. Last Monday, I told him why, and that's when the whole thing of moving on with referral came up. He still holds that if I were a 'good client' and really wanted to do better, then I would stay with him. This is where the confusion has come in.

I don't know what to pray for

I don't know what to pray for Robin. I am looking at myself and my life and am wondering what has happened with me. Where is my love and fun. I've left friendships behind because I wanted more love and positivity and I look at those people now and their is plenty of love in their lives, but not mine. I am surprised. I see myself as different than what is showing up for me. I don't think my life is as gloomy as this sounds but relationships are strained and I want to tap into love. I would love a metaphysical mother for this concern! Thank you for taking time to connect with all of us!

Dear Tara,

It is true that when we choose to dis-engage with dysfunctional behavior patterns that produced a certain comfort zone of people in our lives we do get to this place you speak of and say,

"What the heck? How come they are doing better than I am?"

As we yearn to create healthy, loving relationships we can go through a "desert time" of nothing showing up, or not quite what we thought would show up at the time we thought it would show up. During that phase of our evolution we can miss the old companionship. We wonder if the choice to leave the old way was the brightest decision. Our egos miss the spice of drama.

I, too, have been forced to make deep, cutting changes in what I thought were life time relationships. Situations became so intense I thought I was going to go insane if I just didn't let certain people and certain styles of relating to them go. It was then that I turned my heart completely over to Mother/Father God. I asked for guidance on how to create the REAL Me in relationship with people, people I have always known and people I am yet to meet.

That was when I realized that this part of the journey is to be expected. So, let yourself know that energy vibrations that still have a hold on you are working their way out. It reminds me of getting a splinter removed. Only this splinter is of an emotional nature.

Let me give you a hand up as you discover your place as an Authentic Being co-creating Divine Right Partnering in all ways that support the integrity of your soul,

I've always searched for

I've always searched for answer to what was wrong with me. Around 20 years ago, I realized it wasn't what was wrong with me, but what the wrong done to me did to me. I've been on a mission to release this. At first, I wanted to just forgive my brother. I always felt sorry for him and what guilt he must be feeling. The more & more people (therapists, medical doctors, even my pastor)told me my attitude was miraculous, the more it sunk in that I had a right to let my feelings out. And boy, LOOK OUT!! They came out! I had to draw a line and not let my brother cross it. I heard through others that he blamed molesting me on his abuse and so did they, but I just wanted to him take responsibility for it.
Thank you for allowing me to use this space for me to heal from this. And thank you for helping Jerry. I want him to find happiness and love the correct way. And I accept his apology.

You are welcome Sue. We who have been abused are no longer willing to bear silence to the abuse. We are no longer willing to be victims. We were victimized, but we will come out of the "victim Closet" and share our stories. By sharing them, we heal them. We heal ourselves, we heal those who victimized us to heal themselves, and we heal the nasty pattern humanity has gotten into of covering up the ugly truth through a commitment to silence instead of healing.

Emotions are the doorway to spirituality. Let's allow them to be expressed in such a way they cause no further harm to ourselves, or anyone else.
